Get Involved

We are always looking for people to get involved with The LUNA Project. Whether you are a young person with or without a long-term health condition, a teacher, or a healthcare worker, to name just a few categories, we would love to hear from you. Listed below are some of the opportunities we are currently looking for people to get involved in, however should you have an idea for a project or another way in which you wish to be involved, please do not hesitate to contact us at thelunaprojectuk@gmail.com - we love new ideas!

Blog contributors- The LUNA Project blog is released multiple times a month and covers a variety of topics including independence, socialising, relationships, pride, and many others. Generally, a theme lasts for one to two months. In this time we aim to publish pieces from a range of young people, each approaching the topic from different angles. If there is a topic that you would be interested in writing an article for, please let us know. Some future themes we have come up with (so far!) include education, travelling and body image.

From Me and My Friends to You and Yours - We are in the process of creating a series of resources on long term health conditions/disabilities, written by young people with lived experiences, for young people. We would love for anyone living/newly diagnosed with any condition to be able to access a resource that was written by someone like them, that covered not only what it was, but how it affects someone's whole life, and managing that. To see examples, head to our resources page.

Managing appointments and transition between services resources - Are you a young person with lived experience of appointments and transitions within the health care system? Or are you are a healthcare student/worker and have an interest in learning about and helping young people effectively manage appointments and transitions? We're putting together resources about these topics and would love to have as many people involved as possible.

Take part in our Ambassadors programme - Are you a young person in S5/6 looking for an opportunity to learn more about disability and improve your skills? The Ambassadors Scheme might be for you! We have prepared a short course covering a range of topics under the banner of "Disability Positivity", which will allow you to explore these ideas in more depth whilst improving your skills in areas such as public speaking and presentation. By the end of the programme you will be able to deliver our workshops to younger students and will be an official LUNA Ambassador. Head over to the Ambassadors page to find out more!

Get involved with our working groups at our Annual General Meeting - If you would be interested in getting involved with the running of The LUNA Project as a member of one of our working groups (currently, resources, ambassadors, fundraising and events) look to attend our AGM. The AGM will be taking place online from 7pm-9pm on Thursday September 24th. See the events page for more details, and follow our social media for any updates. We hope to see you there!

If any of the above appeals to you, or you have questions or suggestions please drop us an email at thelunaprojectuk@gmail.com or message our Facebook page and we will invite you to our contributors group. We are keen to hear from people across the UK although for our working groups it is desirable that you are within commuting distance from Glasgow.
